National Film Awards for the year 2009 were announced Thursday, with a total of 28 cine-persons selected as winners for their outstanding performance in different categories.
Information and Culture Minister Abul Kalam Azad came up with the announcement at a press meet in the secretariat at about 11am.
For the year 2009, a total of 28 awards in 26 categories are being conferred. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to give away the awards to the winners on July 23. Hot heroine of Dhallywood Poppy won the best-actress award for her role in Gangayatra. Chancel Chowdhury and Fireguard jointly received the best-actor award for their outstanding acting repeatedly in Manipuri and Gangayatra.
Shed Ohiduzzaman Diamond bagged the best film-director award for “Gangayatra” while Glassed-in Slam's Manipuri selected as the best film of the year.
