Today holy saba-e- barat

The holy Saba-e-Bart, known as the night of fortune, will be observed in the country on Sunday night with due religious fervor. Devout Muslims would spend the night at mosques and homes offering prayers, reciting from the holy Qur'an and seeking blessings from the Almighty Allah for peace, progress and happiness for themselves, their families, relatives, friends as well as the Muslim Unman. Saba-e-Bart is considered as one of three most sacred nights. It is believed that on this night, the Almighty Allah decides the fate of all human beings, fixing their ‘risk’ (livelihood) for the next year. Devotees across the country would visit graves and pray for the peace of the departed souls of their beloved ones. Many will also visit the masers, shrines of saints all over the country.

Traditional foods like chapatti with beef and sweets would be prepared in rural and urban areas across the country on Sunday afternoon. Many Muslims will fast on the following day, and will distribute food and sweets among the neighbors and poor on Sunday. President Zillah Rah man, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and leader of the opposition and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia greeted all the Muslims in the country and elsewhere in the world on the holy occasion. President Zillah Rah man, in his message, said the holy Sheba- e- Ba rat is imminent with the message of fortune for mankind. Islam is the religion of peace, and the ideals of Islam are the means of welfare in this world and salvation in the world hereafter, he said. “Along with mercy and blessings, we will pray for the continued progress and welfare of the country and greater unity of the Muslim Omaha on the holy night of Saba-e-Bart,” the President said. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon all to inculcate themselves with the spirit and teachings of Saba-e-Bart and devote themselves to human welfare and nation-building. She said Saba-e-Ba rat, known as the night of fortune, brings blessings and mercy from the Almighty to mankind.

BNP chairperson, Khaleda Zia, in her message said Islam is a religion of peace. One of the main teachings of Islam, she said, is brotherhood and welfare of mankind. Muslims all over the world will have to come forward for solidarity and welfare of mankind, she said. The Islamic Foundation and other religious organizations have chalked out daylong programmers on the occasion.

Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Beta, private television channels and radio stations will air special programmers highlighting the significance of the occasion. The daily newspapers will publish special articles on the occasion.
