A host of leading opposition leaders yesterday joined theater with BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia reflecting their solidarity with heretic-government stance on pressing national issues.
Bikalpadhara Bangladesh (BDB) chairman Prof AQM Badrudozza Chowdhury, LDP chairman Col (Red) Oli Ahmed, JSD president ASM Abdur Rab,Krishak Sramik Janata League president Bengali Kader Siddiqui and Bangladesh Kalyan Party chairman Maj Gen (Red) Syed Mohammad Ibrahim had if tar with Khaleda Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
It is significant that Kazi Zafar Ahmed, presidium member fajita Party which is a partner of the ruling AL led grand alliance, also tookiftar with the BNP chairperson. After a long gap, former BNP front ranking leaders Prof Chowdhury and Col (red) Oli Ahmed who had deserted the party and floated separate ones, sat beside Khaleda and talked to her. Leaders of the four-party alliance including Jamaat acting Meer Mokbul Ahmed, JP chairman Andalib Rahman MP, IOJ secretary general Abdulla if Nezami and Khelataf Smallish Ameer Moulana M Ishaq also attended the intraparty. Besides, leaders of other like-minded parties includingJAGPA, NPP, NAP, Labour Party, Islamic Party and Muslim League turned up at theater, seen as political get together at a time when Khaleda has been calling for a greater opposition alliance. BNP leaders Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Dr KhandakerMosharraf Hossain, Dr RA Gain and Lt Gen (red) Mahbubur Rahman were also present.Before if tar, a managed was offered seeking peace, progress and prosperity of the country and the people.Prof B Chowdhury told reporters he came to a social function. Kazi Zafar said they are in the AL-led Grand Alliance and his party chairman H M Er shad has already explained the party's stand's Abdur Rib said JSD also remains in the movement and the time will say when his party will march with BNP.
